More Benefits of Using Wine Decanter

Using a decanter to serve wine makes the entire experience change from a regular wine drinking session to an  elegant wine experience. Serving wine in a decanter also sends out a message about you as a host and immediately places you among the elite. First impressions really counts, whether you apply this to a casual business meeting to a romantic one. The taste of the wine is also lifted and the wine tastes much better when served from a decanter.

Here are some other information to know as a host when decanting your wine.

Aeration is another benefit of storing and serving wine from a decanter. While the decantation process takes place, the wine is also oxygenated. Since most wines are kept in bottles for elongated periods of time, they are generally devoid of any oxygen. When the wine is exposed to the atmosphere, it breathes in oxygen as if it has been deprived of it for ages. This process of oxygenation changes the taste of the wine to make it better. While you should not allow the wine to be exposed to the atmosphere, a short period of exposure can add to the wine taste to a large extent.

Wine that has been bottled ages ago and is opened suddenly and poured into a wine glass does not really expose the flavor that it has. Oxygenation ensures that the real flavor of the wine is exposed and the aroma spreads ensuring a multiple sense experience. Some wines need to be exposed in a decanter for only a few minutes for them to acquire their real taste. Others like the dinner steak seasoning style, take hours for the real flavor to emerge.

There are many types of decanter, we suggest our Riedel Cornetto Decanter. It is a perfect blend for a formal setting or casual setting.

Riedel Cornetto Decanter

The term decanting is confusing, and ignorant to some that are not wine avids. It means transferring (decanting) the contents of a wine bottle into another receptacle (the decanter) before serving. It may sound silly (how can pouring wine from one vessel into another make it taste better?), but it works out this way.

Don't take my word for it, but based on observations and taste tests, and testimonials from other experts and wine lovers. Decanting is the way to go for prepping your wine for better taste. There are many different types of decanter, and it would take the whole internet to access it all.

What we would like for you to check out is this Riedel Wine Glass. This is what Riedel said when he was thinking about designing this particular decanter. "After dinner at Aureole, I was watching these elegent swans in the pool at the Bellagio hotel, and the easy flow between their necks and bodies got me to thinking, Why not adapt that line to a decanter?"
